The Rising Together Training Programme is a supportive learning journey
delivered by The Lilac Café Microbakery CLG
Our organisation supports adults with intellectual disabilities to develop workplace skills, confidence, and independence through engaging programmes.
Using baking, cooking, and barista vocational training, alongside structured support and workplace readiness coaching, we create inclusive pathways that help participants gain meaningful skills and prepare for real work experiences. We also connect participants with supported employers, helping them secure meaningful, supported paid employment within our organisation and the wider community.
Throughout the programme, you will be supported every step of the way by friendly trainers in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment, while building friendships, confidence, and practical skills that last a lifetime.
Important:
The first step into our employment pathway is the 3-week Baking Together Programme. This introductory programme has been specially designed to help participants build confidence, develop practical skills, and become familiar with the Rising Together environment.
On completion of the programme, participants will take part in a review process. Progression to our 10-month, three-phase Employment Readiness Programme is by invitation and is based on individual readiness, engagement, suitability and the availability of places.

Baking Together - Introductory Programme

Entry requirements
Applicants must:

Be aged 21 years or over.

Have an intellectual disability.

Have an interest in learning and gaining experience in a bakery, food production and café workplace setting.
Purpose
-
Introduce participants to baking in a supportive environment.

Build confidence and basic practical skills.
-
Introduce the values of the Rising Together Programme.
-
Observe participant strengths, teamwork, and readiness for progression.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the Baking Together Programme, participants will:

Develop basic baking and food preparation skills.

Introduction into understanding the importance of kitchen safety and hand hygiene.

Build confidence in following instructions and using kitchen equipment.

Improve communication and teamwork skills through paired activities.

Develop patience, concentration, and problem-solving skills.

Express creativity through baking and decorating activities.

Reflect on personal strengths, interests, and future goals.

Gain confidence in participating within a group setting.

Experience a positive and supportive learning environment.

Prepare for progression into further training and employment readiness programmes.
Fee:
Participants who are offered a place on the Baking Together Programme will be asked to pay a €75 programme fee to confirm their place. This fee demonstrates a commitment to attending and participating in the programme.
Application Process
1.Submit Your Application
Complete and submit the online Expression of Interest form by 6:00 pm on 25th of August 2026
2.Application Review
The Rising Together team will carefully review all applications. All applicants will be notified by email whether they have been invited to progress to the Meet & Greet stage of the application process or have not been successful on this occasion.
3.Meet & Greet
Successful applicants will be invited to attend a 45-minute Meet & Greet session with a parent, guardian or support person.
4.Programme Place Decision
Following the Meet & Greet, the Rising Together team will review each applicant's suitability and readiness for the programme. Applicants will then be notified whether they have been offered a place on the 3-week Baking Together Programme.
5.Individual Workshop
Applicants who are offered a place will attend a 60-minute one-to-one workshop with the Rising Together training team to prepare for the programme.
6.Baking Together Programme commencing October 2026
Participants then begin the 3-week Baking Together Programme, the first step in our employment pathway.
